It's October and We're Thankful

It's October and we're Thankful .....for Colorful leaves still on the Trees!

Here they are blowing gently in the breeze

We're glad to see
that some
shades of green can still
be found
.....

Or
at least they were
still around
..........a
few days ago

Some leaves
are more dressed
in Fall display...
.

How long can they hang on?

Meanwhile
 we are
still very glad.

To enjoy this October's

Todays Color is Yellow

It is time to get some color on this blog.  So today's color is Yellow!

A Cheery Pansy

I always enjoy seeing the pansies. They add such a cheery presence to where ever they choose to bloom.

The Dandelion

Usually what I see first are the dandelions.  (I can count on them to survive the winter.)  You must admit they do add some color after the long days of white and grey.... of winter.

A Beautiful Yellow Butterfly

I was enjoying a nice walk when I happened to look down and find this beautiful yellow butterfly.  I am glad it wanted to be photographed.

Wild Flower

Another colorful surprise on my morning walk.

What color is your day?

Ponds are like People

.....they merely reflect
what is in and around them!

Here are two bodies of water on the same piece of land just separated by several feet of roadway.

They both contain the same kind of water.  Both contain water from melted snow, runoff, seepage and rainfall.  All comprised of the chemical formula H20; a molecule that contains one part oxygen and two parts hydrogen.

So why is the same so different?

When it comes to water in a lake or pond there is a combination of factors that can influence color.  The lake or pond surface can reflect conditions of the sky.

Dissolved particles may make water look more clear and blue or brown.  Suspended particles reflect light back to us and may make water look more muddy brown, cloudy green, or gray. Nutrient load, algae growth and chemicals can change the color of water.

And just like water, people are the same but different.

We have a similar chemical formula that makes us all look like people, but what is floating around in our minds makes us so different.

We are a unique combination of cultural backgrounds, life experiences, personalities, dreams, goals, and challenges that contribute to how we reflect life. What we read, what we choose to belief, and what surrounds us can also influence the way we reflect life.

Both ponds are pretty even though they reflect different colors.  What beauty are you reflecting?

A Day without color....

...is like a day without hope."
~Betty
...
I thought back to the white days.
The ground was white. The trees were white. The sky was white. The air was white. It was all white.

I thought I should like white. For white is clean, white represents purity. It was white after all that dressed the trees and made them look quite extraordinary on all those frosty days.

However I couldn’t get excited about white. It was more like it says in
Daniel 5:27….
“….thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.”

Then the next morning as I was looking out the window I saw the pink of the sunrise above the trees.
There was color. It was pink, and it was beautiful.
Then I watched as the warmth of the sun creep in. The blanket with a hint of yellow slowly swept its warmth first along the ground then up the trees and then up to the sky.
Now that was a refreshing sight!

Just as the sun colored up the world, the warmth of the sun unthawed my heart. It was like hope crept back into my weary soul.

Now that is why I thought we like those nice sun shiny days….we need the color. Color brightens up our life and our world.

Who got tired of the color "green"?

I traveled down the road one day and couldn’t help but notice,
Where did the color “green” all go?
That I had waited for so long.

I couldn’t help but ask myself, “Who brought out that big old paint brush?
Who splashed a stroke of yellow here,
And over there some red?

Who painted the hews of the rainbow, over hill and valley and meadow?
Who left some shades of green around,
But painted mostly in color?

And while for a bit I did ponder the reason I suddenly discovered why it was so.
It’s the harvest you know,
The fields are quite bare, the harvest is in.

This is the special harvest time and it’s time to celebrate
And however nice the color green is
It just isn’t quite enough.

The harvest time must be celebrated with lots of splash of color
The whole wide world has got to know
The harvest is in, the harvest is in.

For those who work the fields do know the challenge to get things to grow,
Through heat and cold, and wet and dry
And bugs that come to eat the sprouts and fruits.

It’s a miracle that we can celebrate that the harvest is in our bins today,
So bring on the color and hope it can stay,
For a long time to brighten our way!
